Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 24, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information MyDogPortrait collects, how we use it, and your rights. We respect your privacy and aim to be transparent about our practices.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Dog photos — uploaded to generate your portrait.
- Email address — if you create an account or provide it during checkout for order delivery.
- Name — if you create an account.
- Payment information — processed directly by our payment providers (Stripe and/or Hyp). We never see or store your full card details.
- Shipping address — only if you order a physical print.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — pages visited, styles selected, generation attempts.
- Device & browser data — IP address, browser type, operating system.
- Cookies — session cookies for authentication and analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. See Section 7.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To generate your AI dog portrait
- To process and fulfill your order
- To send order confirmations and delivery updates
- To provide customer support
- To improve our service and fix bugs
- To comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your photos to train AI models.
3. AI Processing — Your Photos
Generating your portrait requires sending your uploaded photos to Google's Gemini AI service. This processing is governed by Google's terms and privacy policy. We use the API in a way that does not allow Google to use your data to train their models.
Your original uploaded photos are not stored on our servers beyond the duration of your active session. Once your portrait is generated, the upload is discarded.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Stripe / Hyp — payment processing. Your payment information is sent directly to the payment provider and governed by their privacy policy (Stripe, Hyp).
- Google Gemini AI— AI portrait generation. Photos are sent to Google's API for processing only.
- Printful — print fulfillment. If you order a physical print, your name and shipping address are shared with Printful to fulfill your order.
- Vercel— website hosting. Our site is hosted on Vercel's infrastructure.
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel — advertising analytics. We use the Meta Pixel to measure how visitors use our site (pages viewed, checkout steps started) and to show relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram, including retargeting. This shares usage data with Meta under their Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized ads via your Facebook ad preferences or industry tools like aboutads.info.
- Contentsquare (Hotjar) — product/UX analytics. We use Contentsquare to understand how visitors navigate our site (clicks, scrolling, and anonymized session replays) so we can improve it. Sensitive input fields are masked by default and we do not use it to collect payment details. Governed by their Privacy Policy.
In addition to the third-party services above, we also run analytics on our own servers: page views, steps through the portrait-creation and checkout flow, device type, and approximate location from your IP, tied to an anonymous identifier stored in your browser (not your name or account). This data is never sold or shared with anyone, is used only to understand where visitors run into trouble on the site, and is automatically deleted after 90 days.
5. Data Retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active. Order records are kept for 7 years for accounting and legal purposes. Generated portrait images associated with a purchase are kept for 30 days after delivery, then deleted from our servers.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing hello@mydogportrait.com. We will process your request within 30 days.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure database storage, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we take it seriously.
7. Cookies
We use the following types of cookies:
- Essential cookies — required for the site to function (authentication session, cart state). Cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it, including our own first-party analytics (see Section 4) and Contentsquare and the Meta Pixel above. You can decline these when prompted.
You can control cookies in your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent the site from functioning correctly.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Opt out of any marketing communications (every email includes an unsubscribe link)
- Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format

9. California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
